A Security vulnerability in the FTP subsytem of Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0:


1. Impact

A Security vulnerability in the FTP subsytem of Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0 may allow a local or remote unprivileged user to execute arbitrary code.

  • Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0 through 4.0.7 without patch 120982-15
Linux
  • Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0 through 4.0.7 without patch 120983-15
HP-UX
  • Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0 through 4.0.7 without patch 123532-05
Windows
  • Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0 through 4.0.7 without patch 126325-05
To determine the version of Sun Java System Web Proxy Sever, run the following command:
    $ <ps_install>/bin/proxy/bin/proxyd -v
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0.6 B05/12/2007 13:24
(Where <ps_install> is the installation directory of the Proxy Server).

3. Symptoms

There are no predictable symptoms to indicate that this issue has been exploited to execute arbitrary code.

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below.
