1. Impact

A security vulnerability in the Sun Java Web Console may allow a local or remote unprivileged user to determine the existence of files or directories in access restricted directories. The ability to gather information on access restricted files or directories indicates a loss of confidentiality.

2. Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform
x86 Platform
Linux
  • Sun Java Web Console 3.0.2 without patch 125954-07
Notes:
  1. The Windows platform is not affected by this issue.
  2. Sun Java Web Console 3.0.2 Revision 2006.10.09.11.21 and earlier are not affected by this issue.
To determine the version of Sun Java Web Console installed on a Solaris or Linux system, the following command can be run:

    $ /usr/sbin/smcwebserver -V
    Version 3.0.5


If Sun Java Web Console 3.0.2 is installed on the system, the revision number may be checked using the following command:

    $ pkginfo -l SUNWmctag | grep VERSION

    VERSION: 3.2,REV=2006.12.08.20.48

3. Symptoms

There are no predictable symptoms that indicate the described issue has been exploited.

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the Resolution section below.
