Impact
The Redundant Transfer Unit (RTU) in the Sun Fire 3800/4800/4810/6800 racks and Sun Fire cabinets support redundant power. The RTU has two outlets labeled J1 and J2, and all Sun Fire servers are shipped with J1 connected. Using RTU J1 and J2 simultaneously may cause a power overload condition, resulting in system power outage.

Note: This issue occurs only if attempting to use RTU J1 and J2 simultaneously.
Symptoms
There are no predictable symptoms that would indicate the described issue.
Workaround
There is no workaround. The Sun Fire Cabinet Matrix document specifically states "Do not use J2". Please see the "Resolution" section below. See page A-4 of "Sun Fire 6800 System and Sun Fire Cabinet Rackmount Placement Matrix" at:

Resolution
On Sun Fire 3800/4800/4810/6800 Racks and Sun Fire cabinets, do not use RTU outlets J1 and J2 simultaneously.
