Impact
Running Open Boot Prom (OBP) commands "probe-scsi" and "probe-scsi-all" without a subsequent "reset-all" on any Sun UltraSPARC server (except Sun Fire 12K/15K) may hang the system on reboot when using the "boot" or "boot -v" commands.
Contributing Factors
This issue can occur on the following platforms:
SPARC Platform
-
Sun UltraSPARC Servers (except Sun Fire 12K/15K)

Workaround
To work around the described issue, the OBP command "probe-scsi" or "probe-scsi-all" must be followed by the "reset-all" command before re-booting, otherwise, a subsequent "boot" or "boot -v" may hang the system.
Note: A requirement prior to performing the above sequence is to first set the "auto-boot?" parameter to "false" with the command:
ok> setenv auto-boot? false
followed by the "probe-scsi" command, then again by "reset-all" prior to rebooting the system.

Please see the "Relief/Workaround" section above.
