Certain FCAL Disk Drives For the Sun StorEdge T3+ Array May Go Offline

Impact

In the Sun StorEdge T3+ array with drive firmware version 1504, disk types MAN3367FC (36.4GB FCAL) and MAN3735FC (73.4GB FCAL) may go offline.

Contributing Factors

This issue can occur on the following drive types:

• Internal Disk Drives MAN3367FC (36.4GB FCAL) and MAN3735FC (73.4GB FCAL) with firmware revision 1504

on the following platform:

• Sun StorEdge T3+ with firmware revision 3.1.4 and without firmware (3.1.5) patch 115180-07

If a disk has gone offline, messages similar to the following will be reported in "/var/adm/messages":

Symptoms

The drive will go offline and will no longer be available to the system. There are no other indications that this condition has occurred.

Workaround

There is no workaround for this issue. Please see the "Resolution" section below.

Resolution

This issue is resolved on the following drive types:

• Internal Disk Drives MAN3367FC (36.4GB FCAL) and MAN3735FC (73.4GB FCAL) (with firmware revision 1504)

on the following platform:

• Sun StorEdge T3+ with firmware (3.1.5) patch 115180-07 or later

Note: Only the single patch listed is necessary to resolve this issue, as the firmware for both the drives and controllers are embedded in the controller firmware on the T3+ platform.
