Sun Fire 15K Server
Bug Id :4798496
Date of Resolved Release :26-MAR-2003

Impact

On rare occasions, a Sun Fire 12K or 15K domain may "Domain Stop" (Dstop) if another domain is shutdown or reboots.

Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

  • Sun Fire 12K/15K with System Management Software (SMS) 1.1
  • Sun Fire 12K/15K with System Management Software (SMS) 1.2 without patch 112488-12

This issue only occurs if one (or more) domains share an expander board with other domain(s).

Note: SMS 1.3 is not affected by this issue.

Symptoms

The standard error messages in the platform message log when the domain Dstops are similar to the following:

	Feb 24 03:38:34 2003 hwad[376]: [1156 300302340751630 ERR
InterruptHandler.cc 2171] Domain Stop interrupt detected, domain J

Workaround

To work around the described issue, apply SMS 1.2 patch 112488-10 or 112488-11 and add the following parameter to the domain's "/etc/opt/SUNWSMS/SMS1.2/config/platform/.postrc" file:

	dash_Q_fail

Resolution

SPARC Platform

  • Sun Fire 12K/15K with System Management Software (SMS) 1.2 with patch 112488-12 or later

Note: SMS 1.1 will require an upgrade to a later release.
