A Sun Fire 12K/15K System Controller's Floating IP Address May Not Failover to The Alternate System Controller

Impact

The floating IP address of a Sun Fire 12K/15K System Controller may not failover to the alternate System Controller.

Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

• Sun Fire 12K/15K with SMS 1.1
• Sun Fire 12K/15K with SMS 1.2 without patch 112632-02

Note: System Management Software (SMS) 1.3 is not affected by this issue.

Symptoms

Should the described issue occur, messages similar to the following may be seen in the "/var/adm/messages" files:

Workaround

There is no workaround. Please see the "Resolution" section below.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

• Sun Fire 12/15K SMS 1.2 with patch 112632-02 or later

To address the described issue, customers running SMS 1.1 should upgrade to SMS 1.2 (or later) with the appropriate patches.
