For Solaris 7-10 releases, refer to the man pages for instructions
on using 'patchadd' and 'patchrm' scripts provided with Solaris.
Any other special or non-generic installation instructions should be
described below as special instructions.  The following example
installs a patch to a standalone machine:

The following example removes a patch from a standalone system:

Special Install Instructions:

NOTE 1:  All PostgreSQL database backend servers should be shutdown during 
         installation of this patch. Prior to patch installation, for each
         backend server that is running in a separate data directory, run 
         the following command as the postgres user:
 
         $ /usr/postgres/8.2/bin/pg_ctl stop -D <data directory>
 
         The default data directory is /var/postgres/8.2/data
 
         After patch installation, all backend servers can be restarted by
         running the following command as the postgres user:
 
         $ /usr/postgres/8.2/bin/pg_ctl start -D <data directory>
 
         Or if you are using the Service Management Facility (SMF) to manage
         the default service "version_82," stop the service using:
 
         $ /usr/sbin/svcadm disable version_82
 
         After patch installation, restart the service using:
 
         $ /usr/sbin/svcadm enable version_82
 
NOTE 2:  This patch contains bug fixes only. No migration or upgrade is
         necessary to transition your databases from previous 8.2.X versions.
