NOTE: This hotfix requires that Sun Java System Directory Server 5 2005Q4 or Sun Java System Directory
Server 5.2 Patch4 is installed. To verify that this patch is already installed, run the following command:
On Solaris/Linux/HP-UX/AIX: ./ns-slapd -V -D <instance-dir>
On Windows: slapd.exe -V -D <instance-dir>
The output must contain 5.2_Patch_4 for the version of the binaries.
Versions prior to Sun Java System Directory Server 5 2005Q4 or Sun Java System Directory Server 5.2 Patch4 need to be upgraded to this version before applying this patch.
Alternatively a specific fix for the previous versions can be requested via support.
If you have received other hotfixes for Sun Java System Directory Server 5 2005Q4 or Sun Java System Directory Server 5.2 Patch4 please contact Sun Support and request a new hotfix that includes your current fixes plus this security fix.
Installation :
In the following examples <SERVER ROOT> stands for the directory where
the Directory Server product has been installed.
For UNIX (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux) :
Close all console windows.
Unpack the compressed tar archive :
> uncompress 122476-01.tar
> tar -xvf 122476-01.tar
> cd 122476-01
Run the install script :
> ./install_script <SERVER ROOT>
Note: /install_script script must be executed by the unix user of the <SERVER ROOT> owner.
For Windows :
There is no install script for Windows, follow these instructions
Close all console windows.
Close the event viewer.
Unpack the zip archive :
> mkdir <MyDirectory>
> cd <MyDirectory>
> cp <PATCH PATH>\122476-01\WINNT\Hotfix.zip .
> unzip <ZIP file>
There is no install script for Windows:
> stop all server insances
> backup the file <SERVER ROOT>\bin\slapd\server\libslapd.dll
> copy the file <MyDirectory>\WINNT\bin\slapd\server\libslapd.dll to <SERVER ROOT>\bin\slapd\server\libslapd.dll
> start all server insances
Notes :
1. The directory into which the archive has been copied must be writeable.
2. On Windows platforms, user must be the administrator or a member of the administrators group.
3. On Solaris with native package installations, the installation of further patches has
to use the "-u" option since this patch does modify a binary in the package installation
