Patch Installation Instructions:

This is not an OS patch and is not installed with the standard
patchadd(1M) command.  After unpacking the patch, follow the "Special
Install Instructions" below to upgrade the system PROM.
 
This patch is not OS-dependent.  The list of releases shown under the
"Solaris Release" and "SunOS Release" sections may not be complete.
The absence of the running Solaris Release or SunOS Release from the
lists above does not preclude the installation of this patch on the
hardware.
Special Install Instructions: 
-----------------------------
System Controller Firmware update requires a TFTP server to be enabled
on the same subnet as the System Controller being updated
 
1.  Setting up a TFTP server
 
1.1 To set up a TFTP server, follow the instructions on "Setting up a
    TFTP Server" in the Blade System Chassis Administration Guide.
 
2.  Copying the System Controller Firmware File
 
2.1 Download or copy this patch to the TFTP server and place in a
    directory; e.g. /tmp
 
2.2 As root, copy the binary file from the patch directory to the TFTP
    user home directory and make the file readable
 
    % su root
    Password:
 
    # cd /tmp/115314-02
    # cp SunFireB1600-sc-v1.2.9.flash /tftpboot
    # chmod +r /tftpboot/SunFireB1600-sc-v1.2.9.flash
 
 
3.  Updating the System Controller Firmware
 
3.1 Log on to the System Controller console as user 'admin'.
 
3.2 Establish that the upgrade is necessary by checking the current
    version of the System Controller by typing:
 
    sc>showsc

3.3 At the sc> prompt, type:
 
    sc>flashupdate -s ipaddress -f path SSCn/SC
 
    where
 
    ipaddress specifies the IP address of the tftpboot server.
 
    path specifies the path and filename of the new firmware.
 
    n is either 0 or 1 depending on whether you want to upgrade the
    System Controller on SSC0 or SSC1.
 
    sc>flashupdate -s 129.156.204.163 -f /tftpboot/SunFireB1600-sc-v1.2.9.flash ssc0/sc
    Warning: Are you sure you want to flashupdate the SSC0/SC flash image (y/n)? y
    SSC0/SC: Preparing to flashupdate.
    flashupdate: erasing segment 32 programming address ffb1fffe
    SSC0/SC: flashupdate complete.
    The system must be reset (using resetsc) for the new image to be loaded
 
3.4 Reset the System Controller
 
    sc>resetsc
    resetsc
    Are you sure you want to reset the SC? All user sessions will be lost (y/n)? y
 
    Resetting ...                           
 
 
3.5 After the reset has completed, log in again and check the version
 
    sc>showsc

3.6 Repeat steps 3.2 through 3.5 to upgrade the firmware on the other
    System Controller.
